Description of the research topic:

This PhD research project delves into the complex dynamics of language policy, focusing on the interactions between bottom-up and top-down approaches within family and institutional contexts. The aim is to explore how language users shape grassroots language policy initiatives through everyday practices and how these initiatives influence institutional, top-down language policy decisions. Employing a multidisciplinary approach, the analysis integrates sociolinguistic, political, sociological, and anthropological methodologies, alongside digital tools such as social media analysis and large dataset examination. The project seeks to understand the ideological and interest-based dimensions of language policy and illustrate how it shapes social structures and identities across various levels, from family units to national governments.
