Description of the research topic:
The aim of the research is to reveal the functioning of deixis in the framework of functional (social) pragamatics. The phenomenon of deixis, in a functional cognitive perspective, can be interpreted as a linguistic operation that draws the physical and social world of the participants of the joint attentional scene into the interpretation of the discourse they are engaged in. Prototypical deictic expressions start from context-dependent reference points and make available the spatio-temporal, or sociocultural relationships of the referential scene to which the speaker directs the addressee’s attention by the use of linguistic symbols. The main types of deixis are space, time, social and discourse deixis. The research puts the focus mainly on the deictic use of the pronouns and tries to found its proper methodology.
