Description of the research topic:

In the last decades, historical research on the Eurasian steppe region has produced a number of new findings. Many researchers now regard the region as a ’steppe civilisation’. However, little research has focused on local folk religion, beliefs and magical practices, which are essential for a deeper understanding of this civilisation. The religious life of the Turkic-speaking peoples of steppe is the focus of the studies, through the analysis of recent descriptions and/or historical sources.
