First and second/foreign language phonology acquisition; the process, conditions and constraints of pronunciation acquisition; the emergence of foreign accent, theoretical benefits from its empirical study; the role of pronunciation in teaching English as a foreign language, components of learner pronunciation and their teachability/learnability; pronunciation-specific elements of language aptitude and their connections to other skills; affective factors determining foreign accent; the study of foreign-accented Englishes.
