Sustainable development in heterocyclic chemistry using electrosynthetic methods

THESIS TOPIC PROPOSAL

Institute: Eötvös Loránd University, Budapest
chemistry
György Hevesy Doctoral School of Chemistry

Thesis supervisor: Ervin Kovács
Location of studies (in Hungarian): HUN-REN Research Centre for Natural Sciences
Abbreviation of location of studies: H-REN

Description of the research topic:

"This research focuses on the organic electrochemistry in targeted chemical synthesis such as the development of novel N-heterocycles for pharmaceutical purposes. These types of synthesis can be achieved in a traditional preparative way, however, they require harsh reaction conditions or very active toxic reagents, unlike the electrochemical route, which works under mild conditions. Such a developed electrochemical methods will offer tools for the green production of special biologically active compounds and their building blocks, in addition, to polymer monomers.
The project proposes to translate the state-of-the-art reaction systems in chemical electrosynthesis in materials sciences and medicinal chemistry, using electrochemical transformations providing high-level quality membranes and materials."
