Agglomeration economies refer to the cost savings resulting from the spatial proximity of economic actors. The literature has identified a number of mechanisms behind agglomeration economies, the understanding of which is key to underpinning policies that promote productivity growth and regional development. The aim of the doctoral research is to empirically investigate the mechanisms of agglomeration economics by analyzing micro-data and/or using qualitative methods for an industry or a specific group of economic actors.
