Description of the research topic:

In polycrystalline systems, the evolution of structural elements on different length scales is strongly conditioned by the tuning parameters of processing. The trial-and-error method is an expensive way for the development of new grades and improvement of properties in the existing ones. In this respect, virtual processing is a powerful and cost-efficient tool, which enables in-sillico process development or optimization. The major goal of the PhD work is to explore the limits of existing numerical algorithms, used for the virtual processing as well as the development of new ones by employing efficient computational methods. The tuning parameters which enable the virtual processing will be derived either from the experimental evidence or from already existing databases. The variety of hardening and softening conditions, which take place during materials processing will be guaranteed by conventional and non-conventional thermomechanical processing routes. The simulated properties and technological parameters will be compared to the experimental ones and the results gained will be used for the modification of already existing or development of more efficient ones by implementation of a variety of computational algorithms.
