Description of the research topic:

Enviromental DNA (eDNA) is widely utilized in ecology and in conservation biology to characterize the environment of water, air or dry surface samples in detail. The research objective is to extend eDNA and non-human touch DNA sampling and analysis methods to solid material surfaces to exploit their usage as forensic evidence. Project aims to develope methods for eDNA sampling and to establish metagenomic DNA profiles with recognizing mixtures of biological samples as well. The identification of species in mixed biological samples in a next generation DNA profile is both a biological and statistical/probability problem, that requests validation of likelihood ratio methods applying Bayesian approach.
