Investigation of calcium indicator proteins on stem cells

THESIS TOPIC PROPOSAL

Institute: Eötvös Loránd University, Budapest
biology
Doctoral School of Biology

Thesis supervisor: Ágota Apáti
Location of studies (in Hungarian): HUN-REN Research Centre for Natural Sciences, Institute of Enzymology
Abbreviation of location of studies: H-REN

Description of the research topic:

"In 2005, we established our laboratory in order to be the first in Hungary to create an opportunity for culturing and investigating human pluripotent stem cells. Pluripotent stem cells can be cultured indefinitely in vitro and can develop in all the tissues of the living organism, which is why they serve as an excellent model for developmental biology research, drug testing and for future human cell therapy applications.
One of the main areas of our research is the investigation of calcium signalling in stem cells.
In addition to studying the calcium signalling of stem cells, the experiments also can be used for testing systems of active substances based on calcium signals.
