Description of the research topic:
The most convenient way of investigating ultrafast processes is the pump – probe measurement, a well-established method. In this technique intense ultrashort laser pulse induce a change of the material properties, and a weak probe pulse is used to follow the change. In THz pump –probe measurements intense THz pulses are used as pumping pulses. Such measurements belong to one bunch of nonlinear THz spectroscopy. In our laboratory THz pulses with 10’s of microjoule energy are available, making possible investigation of processes in bulk and nanostructure materials by THz pump – probe and other nonlinear THz spectroscopy measurements.
