Description of the research topic:
THz pulses with MV/cm-level electric fields enable many nonlinear applications, from which tabletop particle acceleration is of growing interest. Although, it is challenging to reach this electric field level in the low frequency THz regime with the available sources due to their limitations. With a new type ZnTe based semiconductor contract grating we have demonstrated THz pulses with 0.5 MV/cm electric field [1] and since then we have been working on other new concepts.
The aim of the work is to participate in the development of semiconductor based alternative THz sources which enable the generation of THz pulses with high electric fields at the low frequency THz regime.
