Description of the research topic:

Research goal is to develop a framework for evaluating risk to urban areas coming from multiple potential hazards. These hazards will have a wide variation in likelihood of occurrence and level of severity. The research bridges the gap between hazard analysis and risk assessment of separate types of events (flood, earthquake etc.) as well as potential hazards in order to determine what type of hazards needs to be taken into account; what are elements at risk and how can their vulnerability be determined; how is risk comparable obtained from different hazards with different level.
