Description of the research topic:
How the brain implements the battery of sensory and cognitive functions required for survival remains a mystery. The goal is to design, implement and analyse mesoscale functional recording experiments using imaging, optogenetic and electrophysiology methods. This multimodal approach is best positioned to reveal how specific functions of the brain are distributed across brain regions. Once activity recording and the related data pipelines are in place, the applicant explores how „writing” and „reading” brain activity can be connected via low-latency algorithms.
