Description of the research topic:

Students taking this research topic can examine the factors and driving forces behind land use change in urban, rural and periurban regions and the role of urban, agricultural, tourism and nature conservation policies in land management. Students will experiment with scenario-based land use change modelling to predict future land use conditions and ecosystem services. They will also learn about land use interdependencies with climate change, integrating demographic predictions into the models and the risk assessment of local communities based on present and future land use and ecosystem services.
