Description of the research topic:

Regulatory and guidance levels concerning mycotoxins have been established based on the individual toxicological characteristics (NOAEL, TDI levels) of the parent compound.
The planned investigations focus on the interaction of the most frequently occurring Fusarium mycotoxins (deoxynivalenol, zearalenol and fumonisins) the co-occurance of which is experienced in the practice. Our previous results support the findings of the literature, namely, interactions are difficult to predict. Bi-and ternary mixtures of Fusarium toxins will be tested in animal models (rats and rabbits). Concentrations set will be close to the EU guidance levels often detected in feed samples.
