Description of the research topic:

Research aims to explore the parallels and prefigurations of some 20th
–21th centuries fine art
phenomena in European art history, cultural history on the basis of some chosen research aspects.
In the visual tradition, certain themes, forms, or motives have been present for centuries,
reemerging in the modern or contemporary art as part of the fine art tradition, represented by the
expressive means of the modern age. These art phenomena are presenting certain periods of art
history and defining major parts of the European visual tradition: they serve as a precedent or
model for later creators. The research is based on the examination of the original meaning,
function and spreading of the selected motive, element or theme and the presentation of its
occurrence in modern art.
