Description of the research topic:

One of the areas of sculpture that is still subject to extensive experimentation today is high-quality
craftsmanship, the insetting of handicraft techniques into autonomous art. By this method, I mean
the preparation of plastics with a contemporary conception and a contemporary approach, the
creation of which requires traditional tools and hand tools using traditional techniques.
According to the criteria of the theme notice, the tools used in machining different materials are not
necessarily limited to their original purpose but are given a new function either through their
innovative or intuitive use, which creates an opportunity to develop and mature individual
expressions.
The research examines the crafts (carpentry, joinery, blacksmithing, etc.) associated with the
machining of different materials, their tangible memories and their use of materials and tools. As
part of the research, in addition to the original purpose of the related tools, it explores how to make
hand tools that have been forgotten, have not been used for a long time or are no longer found at
all, and reproduce them as needed. Through them, and with their possible further development, as
well as by embedded the craft techniques in a contemporary context, various plastics and
installations will be carried out, examining the possibilities of creating objects with a contemporary
approach to traditional techniques.
I am therefore looking forward to the application of an aspirant who would like to explore the
subject outlined above from a nowadays still valid, personal point of view, by expanding the toolbox
and expressions of sculpture.
