Description of the research topic:

In the changing landscape of global world due to new economic, social and political challenges, the intersection of tourism impacts and sustainable consumption has emerged as an essential and critical area of research and policy development. Current trends lean are moving toward sustainable consumption, ensuring that everyday consumption is consistent with both economic aspirations and sustainability imperatives. To capture and understand its nature and multiple implications, new scientific approaches are needed that cross the boundary between economics and the social sciences. Applicant doctoral student may focus their dissertation on a transdisciplinary topic (in consultation with their supervisor) related to everyday and tourism consumption. The link between tourism and other disciplines means that the topic chosen by the student is approached from a scientific perspective, addressing a multidimensional problem, and using a social science lens, too. The importance of this research topic lies in its potential to understand and sustain future consumption practices to ensure long-term growth and viability which is both an academic and managerial imperative.
The aim of the research is to develop a theoretically relevant and practically applicable topic on trends in everday and leisure consumption, which can be used to extend the theoretical framework of tourism and sociology, and to provide knowledge that can be applied in practice. The theme takes a broad view of tourism, incorporating findings from various disciplines, focusing on sustainable initiatives, exploring the multifaceted aspects of tourism mobility and consumption, and even measuring how professions and career moves shaped by the sustainable paradigms.
