Description of the research topic:

Dentistry is increasingly taking advantage of the opportunities offered by digital technology. With the availability of so many digital devices, the options available for dental procedures have increased dramatically. The development of this type of dental technology has made it possible to replace traditional dental treatment methods with modern, and state-of-the-art methods.
Traditionally, casts can be made from gypsum, which is sufficiently precise but has a low resistance to destruction during use or even during transport. In many cases, acrylic models showed higher mechanical strength and better accuracy compared to gypsum. 3D printed casts offer several advantages over conventional gypsum models – including less risk of destroying the positive copy, which faithfully reflects the oral appearance, during transit between the dental laboratory and the clinic.
According to the recent literature, there are no reports on the dimensional stability of the different types of 3D-printed dental models. Therefore, the objective of this present study is to investigate the dimensional stability of differently constructed casts over time. By comparing the models, we determine the best printing technique to maintain a usable 3D printed model for the longest time.
