Description of the research topic:

Urinary incontinence and overactive bladder syndrome, as well as urinary storage and voiding problems due to benign prostatic hyperplasia in men, are a problem with a population-related disease and significantly impair the quality of life of those affected. Female urogenital prolapses are common in women over the age of 50 and are associated with the development of functional urological complaints in the majority of cases. Lower urinary tract disorders due to neurological conditions can lead to urinary tract infections and damage to the upper urinary tract, resulting in renal failure, thus reducing patients' life expectancy. Research topics include the examination of prevalence, symptoms, etiology, prevention, diagnostic procedures (especially urodinamic studies), conservative and surgical therapy of urinary incontinence in women and men, overactive bladder syndrome, benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH), neurogenic lower urinary tract dysfunction and pelvic organ prolapse problem in women. Within the framework of translational research, it is possible to combine basic experimental anatomical, biochemical, physiological and pathophysiological topics with clinical trials in the above topics.
