Description of the research topic:

Papua New Guinea is one of the last frontiers for biodiversity research. The amount of arthropod species is so massive, new species are abundant. However this unexplored diversity hinders further research as it makes the treatment of the whole fauna impossible.
The PhD student will execute the genus level taxonomy of Papua New Guinea, obtaining microscope microcraphs of the relevant characters and build an identification key.
Preliminary studiy of the material showed, the DNA barcodes can be obtained from the specimens, so species limits can be tested.
With this research exploring Papaun salticid will be a lot easier as it will be clear which taxa we do know and which we do not, accelarating the salticid fauna research.
