Description of the research topic:
"In medical diagnostic, beside earlier used 2D imaging sensors (such as X-ray), high resolution 3D sensors (e.g. MRI and PET/CT) are becoming more and more important. The automatic processing and integration of the 3D data is one of the key issues in computer aided healthcare applications. The main tasks, like highlighting the important image information, detecting different objects (organs, bones, lesions), require the fusion of 2D and 3D features, generated from multi-modal sensor data.
The available medical image databases enable the opportunity to implement and test different approaches, including geometric, probabilistic and deep learning-based algorithms as well. Reconstructed 3D models can be displayed by available virtual and augmented reality devices, such a HoloLens2 glasses."
