Description of the research topic:
"The exact knowledge of the inhibitory concentration of specific drugs and the probability of resistant samples is essential in medicine and drug design. With the application of microfluidics into this process the cost can be decreased due to the minimal sample demand and at the same time the sensitivity can be enhanced by incorporating advanced sensors.
The aim of this research is to examine the inhibitory effect of drugs on biological samples by developing functional metamaterial sensors integrated in microfluidic based Lab on a Chip (LOC) device for sample detection in aqueous environment.
The required microfluidic channels can be fabricated with PDMS-glass technology, while the metamaterial sensor, which work at microwave frequencies with conventional printed circuit board technology.
