Description of the research topic:
Multidrug resistance and radioresistance are major obstacles to cancer therapy. These phenotypes can evolve following repeated exposure to various chemotherapy drugs or ionizing radiation
(acquired resistance), however, cancer cells can also be inherently irresponsive to cytotoxic drugs or irradiation. An extensive scientific effort is currently focused on the development of such agents that are capable of attenuating these resistance mechanisms or ultimately reversing them. This PhD. project airns to design and test various nanoparticles as potential candidates for specifically targeting the resistant phenotypes of cancer cells.
