Description of the research topic:
In the studies of gliomas, molecular approaches have become very important, since the molecular characteristics of these tumors provide both prognostic and therapeutic advantages. Although approved personalized therapy is not yet available in gliomas, more and more targeted treatment trials transition from the preclinical phase into the clinical phase, and from these efforts we expect an improvement in the disease course. Therefore, we would like to launch a comprehensive data collection that enables the comparison of clinical, imaging and pathological (and, where available, molecular) characteristics of these tumors in a former retrospective and a prospective cohort. Comparing our results with those in the international literature may point to interventions or practice modifications that can further improve patient survival rates.
