Description of the research topic:
The concept of competitiveness has been in the focus of most EU countries’ economic policy and the Lisbon Agenda since mid-nineties. There are many aspects of competitiveness which need further analysis. These include clarifying and systemizing the background of the concept by linking international trade and market theory, optimizing the measurement toolkit by narrowing down the used discriminative industry policy tools, or combining the macro, mezzo and company competitiveness measurement instruments. The analysis of the institutional, legal conditions and the analysis of the competition policy conditions of competitiveness is a new field even internationally.
The PhD student is expected to perform an intensive literature research and to develop in-depth presentation and quantitative data processing skills. A serious participation in empirical research is also expected. The publication activity (smaller papers, book- and conference reviews) should be started in the first year.
