Description of the research topic:

We seek outstanding PhD candidates interested in ethnoecology. The research will cover the study of ecological knowledge of local herders, farmers and other land users on plants, animals and landscapes; with special focus on the use and management of natural resources. Key methods of the research are interviewing and participatory observation in the studied human communities, accompanied by ecological surveys and landscape historical reconstructions. The expected results are directly useful in ecology, conservation biology, nature conservation management and environmental education. The general purpose is to strengthen the cooperation and knowledge co-production between academic science, and traditional and indigenous knowledge systems, as it is vital in the future of nature conservation and sustainability.

Further requirements: 
Good communications skills, at least basic ecological expertise
