Description of the research topic:

Mixing is one of the most important processes in the plastics industry. Polymeric materials are widely used for different purposes. In some cases there is no pure material to fulfil all the requirements. In these cases it is important to mix different polymeric materials. In the last twenty years carbon nanotube composites are in the focus of the researchers of polymer blends. The usage of carbon nanotube - polymer composites is very important because of the increase of the conductivity of the polymer. Carbon nanotube decreases the resistance of the polymer so electrostatic discharge can be avoided. Mixing of polymers is carried out in melt to achieve homogeneous properties.
During the experiments different nanotube composites will be prepared. We will use different polymers as matrix materials. Carbon nanotube and functionalized carbon nanotube will be used to prepare different compositions. The nanocomposites will be investigated by scanning electron microscopy. Mechanical, thermal, electrical and burning properties will be studied.
