Description of the research topic:
Nasal drug delivery is an alternative to conventional drug administration aiming the transport of drugs to the central nervous system bypassing the blood-brain barrier. The aim of the proposed research is to design surface-modified nano drug delivery systems, in order to improve nasal absorption of poorly permeable drugs. This approach may improve the potential of commonly applied antineurodegenerative drugs showing poor bioavailability in present therapy. Within the framework of the project simple chemical synthesis and in vitro characterization methods are utilized in order to describe the drug release and permeability properties of the developed formulations.
