Description of the research topic:
Digitalisation in the field of logistics and transportation has become as important as digitalisation in industry, society or in private life. The proliferation of IoT in the field of services like shipping boosts the birth of digital logistics networks being not only on land or air but by sea as well. There is no doubt that technological development has contributed in various ways to increase the level of safety in the field of shipping, but the life of seafarers remains shrouded in risks. Such developments improve economic and management efficiency and makes the operation and management of transportation cost effective. Furthermore, the security of such networks is a corner-point that would ensure safe and secure transportation. With the growing number of huge ships sailing on the seas of the world, cybersecurity becomes one of the most important marine safety issues. Cyber incidents involving navigation, cargo control, could threaten lives, the environment, property and trade activity. Improved security management through the development and consistent application of risk estimate methodologies to prefer and track the outcomes of security improvement efforts. The research focuses on the operation and management of such systems and of the security issues in the field of marine transportation.
