Description of the research topic:
The main goal of the research is a theoretical comparison of the micro- and macrolevel analysis of the material behavior, with special emphasis on the destroying processes of the materials. Using numerical simulations at different levels of the microstructure (atomistic, crystal-like, polycrystallic, disordered assemblies of grains, etc), the destroying processes at the maximum value of the load-bearing capacity of the materials will be analyzed. As an independent task the mechanical conditions causing these limit states (dislocations processes, propagations of microcracks, etc., depending on the type of the materials) will be discussed. According to the results of these simulations, the connections among the micro- and macrolevel representations of the collapse in different materials will also be analyzed.
Another important goal is to show examples for the multiscale homogenization techniques in case of metallic and/or rigid heterogeneous materials.
