Robust indoor localization techniques and algorithms

THESIS TOPIC PROPOSAL

Institute: Universitas Budensis
computer sciences
Doctoral School of Applied Informatics and Applied Mathematics

Thesis supervisor: Gyula Simon
Location of studies (in Hungarian): Óbuda University
Abbreviation of location of studies: ÓE

Description of the research topic:

Localization and tracking are important services in many industrial or agricultural systems. The most widely used technology is GNSS, the utilization of which is rather limited indoors. There are several candidate technologies proposed for indoor localization systems, including inertial, image, or radio-based solutions. A common requirement is robustness: the quality of the localization service must be provided even if environmental conditions are changing or some of the sensors fail. The purpose of the research is the analysis of indoor localization and tracking techniques, development of new robust methods, and the performance analysis of such methods
Research goals:
• investigation and analysis of methods and algorithms in the literature, with special emphasis on the robustness of the methods
• enhancement of existing methods and algorithms, development of novel methods
• testing the proposed methods, especially accuracy and robustness; validation of the results

Required language skills: English
Number of students who can be accepted: 1
