Thesis supervisor: István Szilágyi
Location of studies (in Hungarian): University of Szeged, Department of Physical Chemistry and Materials Science
Abbreviation of location of studies: FKAT

Description of the research topic:

The project is experimental-based and concerned with the synthesis, characterization, and application of novel nanostructures of various shapes and compositions. Focus will be particularly made on 2-dimensional clay and titania nanomaterials and their polymer functionalized derivatives. Target applications include environmental remediation (e.g., removal of plastic contaminants) or biocatalysis (e.g., development of multifunctional nanozymes). The systems will be characterized with microscopy (TEM/SEM/AFM), spectroscopy (IR/Raman/UV-Vis) and light scattering (SLS/DLS/ELS) techniques in solid state and aqueous dispersions. The PhD student is expected to conduct experiments and data analysis, while writing up drafts of scientific publications and reports for funding agencies also belongs to her/his tasks to be accomplished.

Number of students who can be accepted: 1

Deadline for application: 2023-05-15
