Description of the research topic:

One of the objectives of this interdisciplinary doctoral research is to carry out comparative studies of the material, structural and technological characteristics of certain types of artefacts by means of chemical and metallographic analysis (XRF, GD-OES, OM, SEM-EDS, HV) of archaeological finds of prehistoric, ancient and medieval bronze and iron. Another goal is to create syntheses in the light of the research results and the archeometric, archaeological and technical history literature regarding the technological development of the fabrication of given object type(s). The focus of the research will be on side arms, jewellery and accessories (plates, brooches, buckles) and horse tools (bridles, stirrups, etc.), according to the archaeological topicality and potential of the time of the PhD project.
