Description of the research topic:
APS minerals (or alunite-supergroup minerals) have a variety of element substitutions. They sensitively indicate the enrichment of metallogenic elements in their surroundings. Since they are formed in a near-surface environment, partly by hydrothermal and partly by oxidative weathering processes, almost all ore deposits can be investigated by them. In recent years, there has been a growing interest in APS minerals, especially in relation to rare earths, which can also be incorporated into their structure.
