Description of the research topic:

Microrefugia are small areas that support favourable climates and allow species to persist during regional and global climate changes. The environmental and microclimatic suitability of a habitat and its accessibility to species are the main determinants of refugial capacity. The main tasks of the PhD student will be: to investigate the relationships between the species composition and environmental characteristics of karstic microrefugia, and to study the diversity patterns within these special habitats.
