Reading, as a specialized form of visual perception
This research topic is concerned with reading, and the neural system that carries it out. Although our visual system has its roots in the evolutionary history of primates, the act of reading is a relatively recent invention. This topic investigates how the visual system limits and shapes our writing systems, and inversely to see how the practice of this activity shapes the visual system.
Our goal is to conduct research on this topic using well-studied paradigms (Stroop, priming, repetition blindness, etc.) with behavioral and electrophysiological tools, and to widen our knowledge on reading and human perception in general.
