Description of the research topic:

1. Criminal instruments in the fight against corruption: European and international expectations (European Union, Council of Europe, United Nations); recent directions of bribery; changes of the statutory definitions of criminal activities; aggravation of applicable sentences.

2. Environmental criminal law: the role of European and international standards; the engagement of criminal and administrative regulations; the enhancement of criminal repression; the problems of proving guilt; evaluation of remedy.

3. Cases of the adjudication of remedy by the perpetrator (restorative justice system): changes of paradigm in the light of international documents and practice; the intensification of restorative criminal viewpoint concerning the statutory definitions of criminal activities; the flare of obstacles of criminal prosecution; the remedy oriented alteration of the system of penalties and sentencing (the role of alternative and public sanctions).

4. Mediation in criminal cases: the role of international documents and practice; definitions and typology; the regulations of criminal and other fields of law; principles; the role of prosecutors, judges and lawyers; the requirements of mediation; the duties of a mediator; rights of the victims and perpetrators.

5. Victimology: the rights of the victims of crimes in the light of EU directives and other international documents (statutory statements of criminal and other fields of law); the concept of victim and plaintiff; the characteristics and types of the personalities of victims; victim oriented characterization of delinquency; forms of aid provided to victims; the fear from delinquency; the prevention of becoming a victim and secondary recurrent victimization.

The clarification of the topic will be concluded according to the research plan discussed by the applicants and supervisors.
