Description of the research topic:
Minimal invasive endoscopic and surgical techniques are providing effective management options for rectal malignancies at an early stage. Irradiation proctitis often develops as a complication of irradiation of pelvic malignancies. The new diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopic techniques have been providing a breakthrough in these issues, however, there are several open questions regarding the role of these inventions in daily clinical practice.
Therefore, the following are aimed to be assessed:
1. Efficacy of endosonography in rectal tumor staging and in the diagnosis of tumor recurrence
2. Efficacy and safety of endoscopic removal techniques of rectal malignancies and premalignant lesions
3. Efficacy and safety of endoscopic treatment modalities
