Description of the research topic:

The many-core revolution still taking place today poses new challenges for parallel computing: how to utilise these devices efficiently, how to provide portability between different architectures, and how to enable productive use of these machines. The goal of the research is to study and develop programming techniques for a particular field in scientific computing that deliver performance, portability and productivity to domain scientists (e.g. physicists) who do not wish to learn about the details of the underlying architectures, just want to efficiently use them. In this research we will investigate domain specific languages for areas such as the solution of partial differential equations on structured or unstructured meshes.
