Description of the research topic:
Spread of invasive alien species is recognised as a major and increasingly relevant threat to biodiversity in the Anthropocene. Since the control in the advanced stages of invasions is a challenging task for nature conservation, prevention and control in early stages can be the most effective tool. Intervention at the early stages has the lowest cost and the lowest adverse impacts on the other elements of wildlife. The most important tasks of the PhD student are as follows: Development of effective methods to invasion control and invasion risk assessment. A further task is to build predictive models to reveal the adverse effects of invasive alien plants.
