Description of the research topic:

The aim of the research is to investigate the membrane separation technique implemented with optimal flow conditions as part of an environmentally friendly complex processes suitable for the treatment of high-risk industry effluents loaded with organic matter. The use of 3D technology in membrane separation processes is also becoming more widespread, but further research is needed in regard to the treatment of industry wastewater, and in particular the filtration of high organic matter effluents. The goal is to design the shape of 3D printed elements integrated into membrane modules of different sizes, to optimize their design and characterize their properties. Using different designs of 3D printed elements to test, optimize and validate the flow conditions during the membrane separation of wastewater with a given load further investigating the long-term applicability of the printed elements. This research is also useful to put into practice, as a reduction in membrane fouling and a significant increase in membrane lifespan can be predicted.
