Description of the research topic:
Climate changes may promote shifts in species’ distributions, reshape communities and threaten local biodiversity. Microrefugia are small areas that retain locally favourable environmental conditions, where species can survive during climate changes. Anthropogenic disturbances may alter the capacity of microrefugia to support vulnerable species, and that this will impact survival of species in landscapes under global warming. The main tasks of the PhD student will be: to investigate the species composition and environmental characteristics of microrefugia, and to study the effects of anthropogenic disturbances on their refugial capacity.
