Description of the research topic:
Critical management studies assume that there is something wrong with management: decision-making processes and organizational practices based on the principles of technical or instrumental rationality in the narrow sense perpetuate social inequalities; contribute to (self)exploitation and burnout syndromes of managers and employees; reproduce new types of addictions typical of modern society and deepen the ecological crisis. I am looking for applicants who want to study organizational problems from a critical approach (e.g., critical theory, poststructuralism, critical realism, etc.). Possible research topics include but are not limited to the investigation of processes that maintain power asymmetries in human resource management practices, leadership, teamwork, and supervisory systems, identity-regulation via organizational culture, and organizational practices that contribute to the emancipation and / or oppression of marginalized social groups (women, people with disabilities, ethnic minorities). The contradictory organizational / labor market effects of digitization / robotization in the dialectical system of freedom / oppression.
Further requirements: The ideal candidate has a basic knowledge of different paradigms in the field of organization studies, including critical approaches, as well as a good command of English. Previous research experience is an advantage.
