Thesis supervisor: György Sipos
Location of studies (in Hungarian): University of Szeged
Abbreviation of location of studies: SZTE

Description of the research topic:

Concerning both Quaternary research and archaeometry optically stimulated luminescence (OSL) and thermoluminescence (TL) are undoubtedly among the most important numerical dating methods. Although there have been substantial developments in luminescence dating in the past decades, measurement techniques are still under research and improvement. Some of the key areas of recent investigations are for example: extending the age range of the technique, comparative analysis of different measurement protocols, rock surface dating, controlling factors of luminescence sensitivity change in different minerals. The aim of the research is the experimental analysis of one or more sub-areas of the above mentioned issues, and the application of the methodological results in the dating of selected quaternary and/or archaeological samples.
