Description of the research topic:
For restoration of brain function in sensory and neurological
diseases, we propose the integrated co-development of minimallyinvasive,
high-density optical device for stimulation of deep
cortical activity, and gene therapy vectors that yield strong, safe and
target-specific expression of microbial opsins required to lightsensitize
target neuronal circuits.
