Description of the research topic:
To change this prospect, the improvement of Environmental Education in schools is a powerful tool. To be effective Environmental Education needs to provide a learning process that is student-centered, in accordance and up to date with the needs of the twenty-first century and, promote a general understanding of the natural systems and the human dependency on them. For these to be achieved Landscape Architecture skillset can be very valuable if applied together with the Design-based Learning method or learning-by-doing. Metrics will be literature review, case studies analysis, interviews, experimentation, observation, questionnaires, and activities application. The analysis and comparison using the data collected will help identify the differences in the contexts and give general ideas on how to design educational programs to achieve similar positive results in different communities. Another expected result is the development of a toolkit using the information gathered which can serve as a base for coming researchers or educators.
