Description of the research topic:

The aim of the PhD project is to develop novel genome editing methods and to produce maize genotypes that will play a role in establishing crop safety in the context of climate change.
The methodological basis of the PhD project is provided by the construction of CRISPR vectors and the sequencing of target genes. The methodological development of oligonucleotide-directed mutagenesis (ODM) involves the study of the effect of chemical modifications of oligonucleotides and the evaluation of the cell cycle of treated cells in terms of mutation frequency. The key steps of the project are the introduction of mutagenic molecules into maize cells, the selection of mutant cells, and plant regeneration, molecular and phenotypic characterization of mutant plants.
