Description of the research topic:
The world economy has always been shocked by social disasters (like wars) and economic crisis (e.g. 1929-32, 2008). But the coronavirus generated world economic crisis seems to be different not only in its depth, but also it its long term effect. Others say it is naïve to expect a more sustainable and human world economic system; globalization and business as usual will continue after some months, where it halted. In this research we will examine the real damages of the Covid-19 crisis, both social and economic. Also, we will analyze the unintended “gift-effect” (e.g. reduced air pollution or increased solidarity). Finally we will try to answer the question whether this will have a long term effect in changing the development trend to a more sustainable direction or not.
