Description of the research topic:

Our research is focused on the solution equilibrium studies of novel metal complexes with proved or potential antitumor activity, and their interaction with endogenous macromolecules. Knowledge of the solution stability and the biologically active forms is highly important can help in understanding of the biodistributions and transfer processes in addition to the mechanism of action. The behavior of the metallodrugs in solution under biologically relevant condition in the presence of bioligands can be estimated (mathematically and chemically) with the use of the equilibrium constants determined. During our work we study complexes of platinum group metals, gallium and thiosemicarbazones. The applied methods: pH-potentiometry, UV/vis spectrophotometry, , fluorimetry, circular dichroism (CD), 1H NMR and EPR. Interaction of metal complexes with serum proteins (albumin, transferrin) and DNA is studied by fluorimetry, ultrafiltration, UV/vis, CD, NMR.
